Metamorphic Media, the parent organization of War on the Rocks, is in search of a visionary leader to assume the role of President, with the potential to evolve into the CEO position. The ideal candidate will spearhead the strategic vision of the company while ensuring its ongoing development and sustainability.

This position requires residency in the Washington, DC metro area or a willingness to relocate.

Our flagship platform, War on the Rocks, caters to a dedicated audience interested in strategy, defense, and international relations. Since its inception, War on the Rocks has aimed to elevate discourse on pivotal strategic matters by showcasing authoritative perspectives through articles, essays, and podcasts. Our membership initiative has seen substantial growth since its launch.

Moreover, Metamorphic Media collaborates with the University of Texas at Austin to produce the Texas National Security Review, a scholarly journal dedicated to academic excellence and innovative thought.

Key Responsibilities of the President

  • Work closely with CEO/founder Ryan Evans and the team to ensure alignment of company practices with strategic objectives
  • Lead the strategic planning and implementation processes
  • Oversee all operational activities and ensure compliance with the company's mission
  • Maintain the founding vision of War on the Rocks
  • Foster a positive and innovative workplace culture
  • Identify and pursue new revenue-generating opportunities
  • Enhance and manage the company's technological infrastructure
  • Direct budgeting and financial planning efforts
  • Develop and sustain relationships with key stakeholders and clients
  • Build and mentor a high-performing executive team
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and adapt strategies as necessary

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or possess the right to work in the United States
  • Reside in or be willing to relocate to the Washington, DC metro area
  • Demonstrated experience in management roles within the private sector, emphasizing team success
  • Strong financial insight and strategic analytical skills
  • Background in defense and national security sectors
  • Experience in crisis management and technology integration initiatives
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional networks
  • Exceptional communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience in the media sector
  • Proven track record of scaling organizations
