Role & Purpose:

As the Vice President of Engineering for the Americas, you will take charge of leading and scaling our software engineering capabilities across the region. Collaborating closely with peer teams, you will motivate and guide your organization to ensure that our Product Vision and Strategies are effectively supported by the underlying technology.

Your enthusiasm for understanding customer needs and challenges will drive you to leverage IRIS' product suite to enhance their experiences. You will ensure that our technology teams prioritize customer-centric approaches, working in tandem with Product colleagues to achieve aligned objectives. Your role will involve identifying emerging technology trends, systemic challenges, and opportunities to develop innovative, scalable, and repeatable solutions.

In this pivotal position, you will lead the engineering organization in enhancing and expanding IRIS's portfolio of Accountancy, Payroll, and Payments solutions. We seek a technical leader with a proven track record in guiding engineering teams, capable of establishing strategic direction while fostering continuous innovation.

This role will work closely with the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to create a compelling vision, ensuring smooth operations from conception and prioritization through to scheduling and execution. You will report directly to the Global CTO.

  • Oversee the software development lifecycle across the Americas, from build through testing and deployment, into production across multiple cloud platforms and diverse products.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Product Officer to ensure that our technology solutions empower IRIS customers to enhance their effectiveness and create pathways for increased value.
  • Guarantee that our platforms meet the required service levels to support our global customer base and adhere to modern Cloud/SaaS service standards.
  • Act as a Technology Thought Leader: formulate visionary plans, inspire and communicate effectively, and continuously evolve the company's strategic technical direction, including the development of standards, best practices, and knowledge management.
  • Regularly assess technical efficiency, driving automation wherever feasible, and leveraging modern technologies. Monitor, analyze, and respond to platform and software engineering performance metrics.
  • Support, manage, and mentor the software development leadership team to create simple, scalable, and innovative technology solutions.

Requirements:

  • Experience as Head of Engineering in a similarly sized or larger organization, ideally with relevant product knowledge.
  • Extensive experience in end-to-end product lifecycle management, encompassing engineering and technical leadership.
  • A broad understanding of leading and legacy technologies, with the ability to evaluate current technology landscapes and execute modernization and consolidation plans.
  • Demonstrated success in architecting, building, and operating modern SaaS platforms on AWS and Azure, including digital-native platforms and migration from on-premises services.
  • A seasoned technologist with significant experience in building, integrating, and managing technical platform/product infrastructure and mission-critical commercial services.
  • A proven history of developing and maintaining a software engineering function that oversees platforms and products from modern cloud solutions to desktop applications, with Agile and distributed development experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Proven ability to drive successful technology transformations and customer migrations.
  • Experience in product portfolio lifecycle planning, including systems releases, customer migrations, retirements, and integrations aligned with customer expectations for modern SaaS service levels.
  • Expertise in architecting, building, and managing highly scalable and resilient SaaS product platforms, optimizing the use of AWS and Azure services.
  • Experience in establishing proficient solutions and teams in modern cloud architectures and development methodologies such as Agile, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering.
