Job Overview

WSP is excited to announce an opportunity for a Vice President of Civil Engineering. This role is pivotal in driving projects within our Transportation Team and contributing to a dynamic organization dedicated to fulfilling client objectives and addressing their challenges.

Your Role
As a leader in this position, you will provide expert technical support and guidance for various infrastructure projects across multiple sites and phases. Your responsibilities will encompass due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, and construction within both public and private sectors. Key duties include:
  • Conducting thorough research and design, including planning and construction of facilities, roads, bridges, tunnels, and water supply systems.
  • Offering strategic guidance to project managers and leaders to navigate current and future challenges, ensuring that documentation and recommendations effectively address risks and opportunities.
  • Ensuring high-quality delivery of responsibilities that meet or exceed industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
Your Contributions
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of data from various sources to support project development and construction.
  • Utilize advanced civil engineering techniques to enhance infrastructure project phases, including design and operation.
  • Perform comprehensive investigations and inspections to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Develop detailed construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates while coordinating with various stakeholders.
  • Manage the entire lifecycle of infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Lead the implementation of innovative technologies and strategies to enhance project outcomes.
  • Facilitate engineering reviews and inspections to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Engage with public and private entities to address engineering and construction challenges.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Build and maintain a client base for high-level civil engineering services, identifying business development opportunities.
  • Mentor and support the professional growth of team members.
  • Stay updated on the latest civil engineering practices and techniques.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on funded improvement and development projects.
  • Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in engineering and civil design.
  • Engineer license required (multi-state preferred).
  • Expertise in civil engineering principles and infrastructure design.
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction laws and compliance practices.
  • Proficiency in technical writing and design software.
  • Effective communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while guiding team members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying schedules and project needs.
Preferred:
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
