Job Overview

Position Type: Temporary, covering maternity leave for a duration of 3 months.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

This position encompasses the responsibilities of a Patient Services Coordinator III alongside those of a Medical Assistant, primarily focusing on patient interaction. The individual will also provide backup support for the Medical Assistant role during instances of absenteeism or vacations. The role is predominantly administrative, involving minimal clinical tasks such as rooming patients, preparing charts, and ensuring examination rooms are adequately stocked.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the scheduling of patient appointments utilizing the Epic system, including coordinating visits across multiple facilities and aligning with other healthcare providers as necessary.
  • Facilitate the registration of new patients via telephone or in-person on the day of their appointment, ensuring all required information is collected in a professional manner; create medical records for new patients and follow up to confirm registration in the Hospital Patient Care Information System.
  • Provide patients with essential information, maps, and other materials prior to their appointments.
  • Address inquiries from patients and their families regarding appointments, surgical procedures, and pre-operative guidelines as needed.
  • Coordinate interpreter services for patients requiring assistance prior to their appointments.
  • Conduct reminder calls to patients 1-2 days prior to their scheduled office visits.
  • Make reminder calls to patients 1-2 days before their scheduled surgical procedures.
