Job Description

Astrolab is a pioneering company in the field of planetary exploration, designing and building commercial planetary rovers to extend humanity's presence in the solar system. We are seeking a skilled Test Engineer to support the development of our lunar rovers and production facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Develop Test Processes: Create and implement test processes for structural components, avionics assemblies, electro-mechanical sub-assemblies, and fully integrated rovers.
  • Test Equipment and Setup: Design and develop test equipment and test setups that are flexible and adaptable to our evolving scope.
  • Data Acquisition and Analysis: Develop data acquisition systems and integrate them with other data streams for seamless post-processing.
  • Troubleshooting and Root-Cause Analysis: Identify and resolve non-conformances through hands-on troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Concurrent Engineering: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop products, processes, and facilities.
  • Test Tooling and Documentation: Design and develop test tooling, and create work instructions and documentation for build and test processes.
  • Capital Equipment and Tool Procurement: Perform trade studies on capital equipment and tool procurement.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, or mathematics).
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience working in production, R&D, or test operation environments.
  • Skills: Understanding of DAQ systems, experience with setup and troubleshooting, and prior experience in basic coding (LabVIEW, Python, etc.).
  • Hands-on Experience: Hands-on experience with the build and test of electro-mechanical systems, and experience with environmental test equipment (e.g., TVac chambers, thermal chambers, etc.).
  • Proficiency: Proficient in electromechanical assembly and troubleshooting, and proficient in CAD modeling software (e.g., NX or SolidWorks).
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding communication and written documentation skills, including use of Microsoft suite products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
