Position Overview

As a key member of our engineering team, the **Robotic Arm Responsible Engineer** will play a pivotal role in the conception, development, testing, and operational management of advanced structures and actuators essential for the robotic arm of our lunar rover.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with the engineering design team to assess the mechanical requirements of the rover's robotic arm, applying your expertise to refine and enhance the design.
  • Conduct design and analysis of mechanical systems at both the system and subsystem levels, utilizing software simulations and empirical test data.
  • Establish component specifications, comprehend lunar operational challenges, and effectively relay this information within the team.
  • Make informed decisions regarding flight hardware selection and develop integration processes for incorporating this hardware into the rover.
  • Create comprehensive test plans to validate and qualify mechanical subsystems for flight, collaborating with both internal and external testing facilities.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in an engineering or STEM discipline, complemented by over 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience with flight hardware.
  • Proficiency in robotic arm system engineering.
  • Background in the engineering of structures, mechanisms, and actuators.
  • Familiarity with CAD software for part modeling, analysis, and development.
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturing principles and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • A Master's degree in engineering is preferred.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and manage tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience working collaboratively within a team of engineers, technicians, and leadership.
  • Knowledge of multi-modal caging systems for multi-DOF mechanisms.
  • Understanding of serial chain kinematics, dynamics, and manipulator Jacobian analysis.
  • Experience with workspace analysis/simulation and force vector analysis.
  • Familiarity with robotic motor control.
  • Capability to mentor and develop junior mechanical engineers to foster a strong design team.
