Avionics Systems Test Engineer at SpaceX

As an Avionics Systems Test Engineer, you will be at the forefront of innovation, creating test systems that operate at unprecedented speeds. Our Avionics Test team serves as the critical checkpoint, ensuring the integrity of all electronic components on our rockets and spacecraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement testing solutions for proprietary avionics hardware intended for space missions.
  • Develop automation scripts in Python to facilitate interactions with units under test, as well as with testing equipment and production documentation systems.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and test lab personnel to provide insights that drive improvements in design and infrastructure, enhancing product reliability and yield.
  • Analyze test failures to identify root causes, ensuring comprehensive understanding and implementing corrective actions as part of our commitment to continuous improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or physics.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in hardware development or electronics testing through professional roles, internships, or academic projects.
  • At least 1 year of programming experience.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with testing equipment and measurement techniques to validate product specifications.
  • Knowledge of electrical schematics and manufacturing processes to enhance testing coverage.
  • Understanding of metrology, measurement errors, and uncertainty analysis.
  • Experience in developing object-oriented software.
  • Ability to analyze circuits and create functional test plans.
  • Experience with environmental testing methodologies such as vibration, shock, thermal, burn-in, and thermal vacuum testing.
