Lead Propulsion Engineer for Engine Component Production

As a Lead Propulsion Engineer focusing on Engine Component Production, you will play a crucial role in the development, implementation, and enhancement of manufacturing processes for essential sub-assemblies and components of our advanced propulsion systems.

The components you will work with interface with various other engine elements, operating under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversee the fabrication of parts, processes, and assemblies related to engine component production.
  • Address nonconformance and manufacturing discrepancies while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Continuously evaluate each process, part, and operation, working closely with design and development engineers to ensure manufacturability and reliability.
  • Maintain comprehensive oversight of the production line, focusing on process consistency, quality, tooling, capital equipment, ergonomics, and safety.
  • Engage with a diverse group of engineers and technicians daily to support production, testing, and launch activities.
  • Identify and drive design changes that align with departmental priorities such as simplification, reliability, and performance.
  • Develop and enhance manufacturing processes, including process flow, tooling, testing procedures, and facility layouts.
  • Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of hardware.
  • Manage the introduction and implementation of new products and revisions.
  • Coordinate with internal and external fabrication, automation, and materials teams to achieve production goals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in fabrication, assembly, testing, and/or project management.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, interacting with technicians, engineers, and managers.
  • Experience with various manufacturing techniques and equipment.
  • Understanding of testing methods and data acquisition systems.
  • Proficiency in generating, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Expertise in design for manufacturability (DFM) with a proven track record in product development.
  • Highly self-motivated with excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work directly with hardware.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends as necessary.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support hardware testing and launches.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Competitive salary range: $125,000 - $175,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

In addition to base salary, employees may be eligible for long-term incentives, bonuses, and stock options, along with comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, a 401(k) retirement plan, and paid parental leave.

Employees accrue paid vacation and are eligible for paid holidays annually.
