Your expertise will allow you to delve into intricate details to pinpoint, comprehend, and resolve challenging technical issues, while also employing a system-level perspective to prioritize concerns for the overall vehicle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with core electrical design and avionics manufacturing teams throughout product development and production to enhance product reliability by implementing best practices in design and establishing consistent process controls.
  • Utilize schematics, testing equipment, and inspection methodologies to perform investigations into PCBA test failures, conducting structured root cause analyses to identify necessary design, manufacturing, and process modifications to avert future product failures.
  • Identify potential risk reduction opportunities and simplify designs and processes to enhance manufacturability, working alongside integrated product teams to drive improvements and address significant and recurring non-conformances.
  • Regularly review build quality to monitor product yield rates and initiate corrective actions for products that do not meet design specifications.
  • Manage suspect or known non-conforming products, offering guidance to quality inspectors, technicians, supervisors, and engineers to facilitate quarantining and rework processes.
  • Continuously evaluate requirements to discern value-added elements from non-value-added overhead. Collaborate with core avionics teams to determine the essential sequence of acceptance testing required for flight hardware to ensure high reliability at the system level.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, hardware engineering, engineering physics, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with digital or mixed-signal designs, utilizing oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, and/or soldering equipment (internships and academic projects included).
  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing, reliability, or design engineering role (student project teams or internships qualify).

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven experience in troubleshooting and root causing electrical hardware failures.
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Over 2 years of industry experience working with electronic hardware.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with a passion for innovation and a commitment to enhancing reliability in advanced technology.
  • Demonstrated application of process controls in high-volume manufacturing, testing, and quality environments.
  • Programming experience in Python, SQL, or PowerBI, focusing on data analysis and automation.
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, corrective action, advanced product quality planning (APQP), metrology, process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem-solving techniques.
  • Experience in developing or supporting products/processes such as:
    • Testing of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits.
    • Design for excellence (DFX), derating, and related analyses.
    • Digital communication interfaces including SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, and RS422.
    • Battery systems design and assembly.
    • RF hardware testing.
    • Solar power systems design and assembly.
    • Statistical Process Control (SPC).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and offsite as necessary.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Build Reliability Engineer/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year.

Build Reliability Engineer/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year.

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
