Your Role

This is a remarkable opportunity to lead a Programme-Portfolio team dedicated to the success of diverse and intricate initiatives within the DairyNZ organization.

With a newly established strategy, you will have the chance to influence and guide the organization towards achieving our three strategic portfolios: Enhancing on-farm productivity, Fostering adaptable and resilient farms, and Promoting sustainable and competitive milk production.

As a key member of our Corporate Services team, you will collaborate closely with our Leadership Team to set and uphold project and programme management standards, ensuring effective governance and oversight.

Your responsibilities will include providing strategic counsel and mentorship to our Programme Sponsors and Leads throughout the Programme lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and continuously enhance a governance framework for our strategic portfolios and associated programmes.
  • Oversee the portfolios to ensure cohesive operations, accountability, risk management, and alignment with DairyNZ's strategic objectives.
  • Foster a customer-centric culture within the Programme-Portfolio team, striving for excellence in delivery.
  • Lead, mentor, and influence Programme Sponsors and Leads to achieve key performance indicators and desired outcomes.
  • Present performance reports to the executive leadership team and the Board, ensuring transparency in Programme Management.
  • Adopt a collaborative approach, driving successful outcomes and encouraging innovation and learning in programme and portfolio management.

Qualifications

We would love to hear from you if you possess:

  • Extensive experience in leading teams in Project or Programme Management.
  • Proven ability to engage and influence at senior management and board levels.
  • Expertise in portfolio and project management methodologies, reporting, and governance frameworks.
  • Capability to identify, categorize, escalate, and mitigate business and Programme risks, with the ability to coach others in risk management.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing large-scale Programmes and projects.

While not essential, the following would be advantageous:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in the science or agricultural sectors.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement techniques.
