Job Summary

Perry's Ice Cream is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sanitation Supervisor to lead our daily sanitation process and ensure compliance with our Master Sanitation Schedule. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for proposing and implementing actions for improvement and risk mitigation, including training and Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Direction: Provide leadership and direction to sanitation, housekeeping, and operations teams, ensuring safe working practices and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Training and Communication: Manage training and reinforce communication of team member safety, sanitation practices, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and company policies/procedures.
  • Sanitation and Cleaning: Lead and audit performance of visual inspection/post clean inspections of equipment and compliance of the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • CIP Program: Lead the Cleaning-in-Place (CIP) Program, including monitoring, scheduling, training, SOP development, records, validations, and optimization.
  • Pathogenic Environmental Monitoring: Monitor the Pathogenic Environmental Monitoring Program utilizing a Seek and Destroy approach.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in sanitation/change over continuous improvement efforts to reduce planned downtime related to cleaning, changeover, and setup of lines.
  • Inventory Control: Accountable for inventory control of cleaning supplies and sanitation chemicals, requisitioning and distributing supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Team Management: Coach and motivate team members to exceed expectations, communicate job performance standards, and provide timely and consistent feedback.
  • Scheduling and Timekeeping: Manage weekly team member schedules and submit accurate timekeeping records for payroll on a weekly basis.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Plan schedules and coordinate cleaning projects with Operations and Maintenance Teams, and provide supervisory support to QA Lab Technicians as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Dairy or Food Science, Business, or related field (i.e., Biological Sciences) preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in manufacturing/sanitation with leadership responsibility, with dairy industry experience preferred.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge in food manufacturing CIP/COP cleaning and sanitation procedures, including cleaning equipment in the dairy industry preferred. SQF or BRC experience preferred.
  • Personal Qualities: Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, strong team skills, detail-oriented, objective, data-based problem analysis and resolution, and ability to think out of the box to develop efficient processes and methods.

  • Office, laboratory, and plant environments associated with the manufacturing and storage of frozen desserts.
  • Considerable time may be spent on computer functions.
