Position Summary

Tilleman Ag Equipment, a proud member of the Tilleman Motor Company family, is dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service. As a Sales Specialist in Agricultural Equipment, you will be tasked with marketing both new and pre-owned machinery to a diverse clientele, including businesses and individual consumers. This role also involves promoting the various services provided by our parts, service, and logistics departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with existing and potential clients to discuss product offerings and secure orders.
  • Achieve or surpass established sales targets.
  • Conduct in-person meetings with clients at their locations or other agreed venues.
  • Identify client needs and propose suitable product solutions.
  • Address inquiries regarding products, services, and pricing.
  • Prepare and present sales quotes and estimates.
  • Process sales orders for corporate review and manufacturer procurement.
  • Negotiate terms and pricing with clients.
  • Provide clients with informative product literature and brochures.
  • Collect necessary information for credit applications.
  • Organize and facilitate product demonstrations at the dealership or client locations.
  • Coordinate the scheduling of product deliveries and transfers.
  • Attend the delivery of purchased equipment.
  • Educate clients and their staff on equipment operation and features.
  • Maintain communication with clients pre- and post-sale to resolve issues, offer ongoing support, and cultivate relationships.
  • Identify potential clients through market research, participation in industry events, and networking.
  • Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and competitor offerings.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including sales orders and expense reports.
  • Track sales activities and maintain records of customer interactions.
  • Contribute to the development of personal sales objectives.
  • Welcome all visitors to the dealership and direct them appropriately.
  • Participate in sales training and product knowledge sessions.
  • Assist in mentoring new sales representatives as required.
  • Support general dealership operations as needed.

Experience Requirements:

  • Proven experience in the agricultural sector, with a solid understanding of modern farming practices and basic GPS technology.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years in external sales, ideally within agriculture or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated integrity, loyalty, teamwork, and exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational abilities and a high level of motivation.
  • Proficient in managing paperwork efficiently and accurately.
  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and perform under pressure.
  • Competence in computer usage and effective communication.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends, to achieve sales objectives.
  • Maintain a clean driving record.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training and meetings.
  • Comfortable addressing mechanical issues.
  • Familiarity with AGCO equipment or equivalent machinery.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree or a 2-year Technical Degree in a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience.

The ideal candidate will excel in developing and nurturing long-term client relationships while maximizing sales of new and used agricultural equipment. This role involves representing and marketing agricultural products and services to a diverse customer base, while also participating in trade shows and industry events. A successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate and operate all equipment available for sale and may be required to work some weekends during peak seasons.
