About the Role

The Refugee Services Case Manager plays a crucial role in supporting newly arrived refugees as they navigate their new lives in Houston. This position involves providing comprehensive case management services tailored to address the diverse needs of our clients.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the Refugee Services team to empower clients and help them achieve self-sufficiency.
  • Actively engage with potential clients to enroll them in the Social Adjustment Program.
  • Maintain accurate client records within the Refugee Services database and ClientTrack System, ensuring compliance with program guidelines.
  • Provide personalized guidance and assistance to clients, connecting them with essential resources and services.
  • Assist clients with accessing vital public benefits such as Food Stamps, Medicaid, and emergency assistance programs.
  • Support clients in navigating medical appointments, obtaining medications, and following up on healthcare needs.
  • Monitor client progress and provide regular updates to the supervisor and Refugee Services team.
  • Connect refugee families with valuable resources like employment opportunities, educational programs, and language support services.
  • Identify clients requiring specialized assistance and make appropriate referrals to address their unique challenges.
  • Maintain comprehensive case files for each client served, documenting all activities in accordance with program standards.
  • Prepare reports as required by program guidelines.
  • Offer interpretation and transportation services to clients when needed.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Two years of experience in case management or working with refugee/immigrant populations is highly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Fluency in one of the following languages is required: Dari, Pashto, or Spanish.
  • A genuine passion for working with diverse individuals from various backgrounds is crucial.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork are highly valued.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment, adapt to changing situations, and solve problems effectively.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, is required.
  • Willingness to drive a 12-passenger van is essential.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance are mandatory.
