Job Overview

The Sales Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting the inside sales team to drive revenue growth and nurture customer relationships. This position is integral in managing sales operations, collaborating with clients and internal departments, and ensuring exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performance Management: Engage in daily discussions with inside sales representatives to review objectives, projects, and behaviors.
  • One-on-One Meetings: Conduct monthly 45-60 minute face-to-face meetings with inside and outside sales representatives.
  • Customer Management: Oversee weekly performance metrics for unique and high-value customer placements.
  • Information Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for outside sales representatives regarding product details and coordinate with the Purchasing department and individual buyers.
  • Account Discussions: Address new accounts, customer issues, sales goals, and product updates.
  • Team Meetings: Organize bi-monthly inside sales team meetings to discuss achievements, challenges, and gather feedback.
  • Lead Research: Investigate potential leads and provide support to outside sales representatives as needed.
  • Call Management: Maintain up-to-date call sheets for sales representatives.
  • Communication: Ensure ongoing communication with sales representatives and management regarding critical account information.
  • Scheduling: Manage the schedule and timekeeping for the sales team.
  • Professionalism: Ensure timely attendance and a professional demeanor from the team.
  • Customer Interaction: Handle incoming customer calls, prepare orders, and expedite processes.
  • Sales Opportunities: Propose and sell additional products over the phone.
  • Order Accuracy: Review incoming orders for accuracy and process orders received via various channels.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in inside sales, customer service, or call center environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with food service products and vendor relations is advantageous.
  • Team-oriented with a positive outlook.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and telephone communication skills; data entry and 10-key proficiency required.
  • Self-driven, professional, and capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a sense of urgency.
  • Flexibility to collaborate with various departments and staff levels.
  • Strong follow-through skills are essential.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
