Job Purpose

We are looking for a skilled and meticulous individual with extensive experience in animal research to join our expanding preclinical team as an In Vivo Research Scientist. Under the guidance of a senior scientist, this role will involve supporting the execution of internal in vivo studies, particularly utilizing rodent models such as rats and mice. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in designing, conducting, and analyzing in vivo studies related to disease models. This position will encompass all facets of our experiments aimed at evaluating GCTx's cell therapies in small animal models. The candidate should demonstrate a willingness to learn, determination, excellent organizational skills, responsibility, and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.

Key Requirements

  • Educational background: Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of industry experience, or a master's degree with 2+ years.
  • Proficient in handling mice, including administration of compounds or cells via IV, SC, and PO routes.
  • Experienced in blood collection techniques such as IV, retro-orbital, and saphenous vein, as well as necropsy and ex vivo sample preparation.
  • Skilled in ex vivo tissue processing and subsequent analyses using techniques like immunostaining, flow cytometry, ELISA, and ddPCR.
  • Comprehensive understanding of IACUC regulations, including animal care, safety, and handling standards.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities, with a knack for prioritizing and multitasking.
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Willingness to work onsite full-time, including occasional weekends.

Research and Analytical Skills:

  • In Vivo Technical Procedures: Proficient in dosing, anesthesia administration, surgical procedures, and post-operative care, as well as managing samples collected from in vivo studies.
  • Study Execution: Proven ability to independently conduct in vivo studies focused on cell therapy efficacy, safety, and mechanisms of action. Capable of executing and troubleshooting standard protocols, adapting new ones as necessary.
  • Data Analysis: Competent in critical analysis and interpretation of data using software tools such as Prism and FlowJo.
  • Data Management: Efficient in data entry and analysis; adept at communicating results to both management and broader audiences as required.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Surgical experience (both terminal and survival) in rodent models is advantageous.
  • Practical knowledge of stem cell differentiation protocols.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality presentations at internal meetings.
