Lead Research Scientist - First Shift
Location: Cambridge, MA
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly driven professional to join our preclinical in vivo pharmacology team. This role involves collaboration with in vivo colleagues to assess the effectiveness of various therapeutic strategies aimed at mitigating specific disease outcomes through advanced in vitro and ex vivo methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Proficient in multi-color flow cytometry assays utilizing ex vivo tissues or cells.
- Conduct in vitro murine cell-based assays, including both cell lines and primary cells.
- Collaborate with in vivo teams to support experiments related to the Inflammation & Immunology therapeutic portfolio.
- Operate independently while demonstrating strong communication and presentation capabilities.
- Maintain organized records and comprehensive documentation.
Organizational Relationships
This position interacts with various teams including in vivo and in vitro preclinical biology, flow facility, comparative medicine group, chemistry, and biomedical design.
Education & Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree with 2-4 years of relevant scientific experience (e.g., Microbiology, Biology, Pharmacology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Animal Science).
Technical Skills Requirements:
- Expertise in multi-color flow cytometry.
- Experience in executing in vitro assays, including cell culture and screening assays.
- Proficient in ex vivo analysis and culture of cells from various organs.
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques such as ELISA, Western blot, and RT-PCR.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of ex vivo pharmacology studies in rodent models.
- Able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated flexibility and teamwork abilities.
- Capable of analyzing and presenting data effectively in both individual and group settings.
- Willingness to work weekends or after-hours as needed.
Physical Position Requirements:
- Standard working conditions involving both sitting and standing, with movement between floors and buildings.
- Laboratory environment with time spent in biosafety cabinets and flow cytometry labs.
- Availability for weekend or after-hours work may be necessary.
