ROLE SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Government Affairs is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive government affairs strategy for the Orlando Economic Partnership (the Partnership). This pivotal role involves steering the Partnership's advocacy initiatives and public policy goals while effectively representing the organization within the community.
The Orlando Economic Partnership serves as the economic and community development entity for the Orlando region, dedicated to advancing Broad-based Prosperity by enhancing economic diversity and attracting investments. The Partnership fosters collaboration across the region to strengthen leadership and enhance competitiveness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advocacy and Representation: Act as a key representative for the Orlando Economic Partnership with local, state, and federal government officials. This includes maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and providing valuable insights on public policy priorities.
- Policy Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research and analysis of state and federal public policy issues that affect Partnership investors and the broader region, ensuring alignment with legislative priorities that promote Broad-based Prosperity.
- Communication and Engagement: Maintain proactive communication with the Board of Directors, investors, and media. This includes preparing reports, updates, and engaging in outreach with relevant associations and business groups.
- Event Coordination: Plan and organize the Partnership's participation in legislative briefings and trips, ensuring effective logistics and materials preparation.
- Support for Executive Leadership: Provide research and communication support to the CEO, keeping them informed of potential issues and preparing them for public engagements related to advocacy.
- Management of Lobbying Activities: Oversee lobbying agreements and manage contracted lobbyists, ensuring effective execution of their responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in legislative affairs, public policy, and government relations.
- Strong integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality in high-level environments.
- Comprehensive understanding of governmental and political processes.
- Experience working with key leaders and navigating state and local government processes.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, utilizing both analytical and creative thinking.
- Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable engaging across various business levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
