About the Role

The Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a highly skilled Patient Encounter Associate to join our team. As a key member of our medical office staff, you will play a critical role in ensuring a seamless patient experience from initial contact to final discharge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Scheduling and Registration: Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments in accordance with established protocols.
  • Insurance and Demographic Verification: Gather and verify patient demographic and insurance information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Financial Pre-Clearance: Determine insurance/payment source, identify necessary authorization or referral requirements, and assist with resolving insurance issues.
  • Front Desk Operations: Greet patients, answer phones, and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Registration and Check-In: Perform full registration, including verification of demographics, completion of financial screening, and prioritizing and verifying insurance as appropriate.
  • Payment Collection and Processing: Collect and process patient payments, ensuring compliance with cash-control protocols.
  • Charge Entry and Reconciliation: Perform simple to moderately complex charge entry tasks and reconcile daily patient schedules with encounters closed.
  • System Development and Process Improvement: Participate in system development and process improvement initiatives, providing feedback to management regarding issues impacting operations.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent; Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience in a physician practice setting, with a minimum of 1 week of on-site training provided by the practice.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
