POSITION TITLE: Patient Transport Vehicle Operator
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Nonexempt
The Patient Transport Vehicle Operator is tasked with ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of patients who require assistance. This role involves transporting ambulatory patients from their homes or care facilities to medical appointments and treatments, all while maintaining a professional and compassionate demeanor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Valid and clean driving record
- Ability to successfully complete pre-employment screenings (including drug and alcohol tests, background checks, and driving record evaluations)
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid NJ commercial driver's license (CDL)
- Current Patient Transport Vehicle Operator Certification
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Preferred:
- Experience in a related field is advantageous
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Ability to communicate instructions clearly and effectively
- Teamwork and collaboration skills
- Capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Customer-oriented approach with emotional resilience under pressure
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely assist in loading, securing, and unloading patients in wheelchairs
- Provide emergency care to patients as necessary, utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment
- Effectively maneuver wheelchairs with patients in and out of facilities while adhering to established protocols
- Document patient information, condition, and care accurately
- Operate and drive the company vehicle in compliance with safety regulations and laws
- Maintain all required physical and digital logs, worksheets, files, and reports
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The typical methods of performing job functions necessitate physical mobility, prolonged periods of sitting, repetitive hand and arm movements, and the ability to carry, push, pull, and lift weights up to 200 pounds. The role may require driving long distances daily. Mental demands include maintaining emotional control and effective communication. Environmental conditions involve working both indoors and outdoors, with moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle emissions.
