General Summary:

The part-time TRIO Student Support Graduate Assistant (18.5 hours per week) is an integral member of the TRIO Student Success Program team, providing essential services to low-income, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities.

This role involves collaborating with students to enhance their career development skills, including job searching, resume writing, cover letter preparation, and creating electronic profiles.

The Graduate Assistant will also be responsible for organizing and executing TRIO transfer trips, cultural events, and workshops, contributing to the overall growth and success of the TRIO Student Success department and the broader college community.


Key Responsibilities:
• Assist students in developing career-related skills, including job search strategies, resume and cover letter writing, and establishing an online career profile.
• Design and facilitate workshops on various career topics such as networking, elevator pitches, and mock interviews.
• Conduct sessions on financial literacy and financial aid information, covering budgeting and college funding.
• Organize and coordinate TRIO Transfer Trips, Cultural Events, and Workshops.
• Collaborate with the Director and Administrative Assistant to plan overnight cultural excursions for TRIO students.
• Maintain regular communication with students and the TRIO Student Success Program team.
• Create necessary documentation for TRIO events, including sign-up sheets and permission slips.
• Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities.
• Document student interactions in the Student Access database.
• Provide referrals to campus and community resources for program participants.

• Uphold confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive student information, demonstrating empathy and a focus on holistic student development.


Qualifications:

Required:
• Bachelor's Degree
• Enrollment in a graduate program
• Proven ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds and learning styles
• Strong organizational skills and effective time management
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Experience working with students in-person and through online platforms
• Understanding of equity-minded practices and diverse identities, including race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, and varying abilities.

Preferred:
• Bilingual skills are advantageous.

Location:
The TRIO office serves both campuses (Lowell and Bedford).
Hours: 18.5 per week, schedule to be determined upon hire.
