Overview:

Lowell Public Schools is seeking a dedicated Paraprofessional to support our special education program for students in grades 7 and 8. This role is essential in fostering an inclusive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate activities tailored to students with varying needs, including those with special requirements and English Language Learners.
  • Assist in the safe transition of students to and from classrooms and buildings, which may involve physical support.
  • Support the teacher during extracurricular activities, including field trips and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Help maintain classroom routines, including snack time, clean-up, and personal hygiene activities.
  • Contribute to creating a safe and healthy environment for all students, taking on additional responsibilities as directed by school leadership.
  • For positions involving health-related tasks: assist with feeding, diaper changes, and toileting as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Must have successfully completed the Paraprofessional test, possess 48 or more college credits, or hold a Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
  • Experience working with the relevant age group is required.
