Job Summary

The University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking a highly skilled Academic Program Coordinator to provide graduate advising, enrollment, and reenrollment support to students in the Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology (BMEBT) program. This position will also provide administrative and programmatic support for the BMEBT Graduate Coordinators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Admissions and Matriculation
    • Provide support to newly admitted BMEBT students, including advising master's students on semester course enrollments.
    • Assist doctoral students in connecting with the appropriate associate dean or graduate coordinator to facilitate identification of a doctoral advisor.
    • Assist in preparing RA/TA offer letters and tracking them, and assist in preparing advanced standing letters.
    • Collaborate with the Graduate Admissions and Registrar's Office as needed.
  • Enrollment and Retention
    • Assist in the re-enrollment and retention of students matriculated into the BMEBT each semester.
    • Monitor graduate student retention and provide regular reports on graduate student enrollment trends.
    • Track and report progress towards retention and enrollment targets throughout the year.
    • Aid in identifying areas of concern and assist with the development and implementation of plans to address enrollment concerns.
    • Assist in scheduling courses, including BMBT.5000 (Intro BMEBT) and BMBT.5200 (Bioethics).
  • Advising
    • Serve as the administrative advisor for master's level students.
    • Facilitate the distribution and completion of appropriate forms and processes required to advance as a master's or doctoral student in the program.
    • Responsible for completing student and degree audits, and assisting the BMEBT Coordinators with degree clearance.
    • Monitor student academic records and assist with monitoring academic standing.
  • Other Administrative Responsibilities
    • Schedule regular meetings of the BMEBT Graduate Coordinators.
    • Participate in student recruitment, orientation, training, and special events.
    • Provide Web page content updates to IT.
    Requirements
    • Master's Degree
    • 1-3 years' experience in academic administration
    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office
    • Ability to use a CRM to improve advising and student services
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Ability to work with little direct supervision
    • Promotes the University's commitment to customer service
    • SIS/Peoplesoft, Salesforce skills highly desirable
    • Degree in or familiarity with engineering/biomedical engineering/biomedical technology a plus
