Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Generalist to join our team in Oakland/San Francisco. As a key member of our HR department, you will be responsible for providing daily, functional, and administrative support to our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Lead the recruitment process from job posting to pre-employment steps, to new hire orientation.
  • Maintain and Update Staffing Matrix: Regularly update and maintain the staffing matrix to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Employee Relations: Respond to employee inquiries and concerns, and notify the Regional HR Manager as necessary.
  • Benefits Administration: Assist with the maintenance of records for Authorized Drivers for ARC, including annual MVR and safety training.
  • Payroll and HRIS: Submit entries into HRIS for employee changes, deductions, terminations, garnishments, etc.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Run various reports as requested using HRIS and other software, and ensure compliance with labor and legal regulations.
  • Safety and Risk Management: Become familiar with The Salvation Army Injury and Illness Prevention Program, and fulfill duties of Safety Supervisor as described in the IIPP when needed.
  • Training and Development: Set up employees in OTIS Training website and assign training courses.
  • Record Keeping: Create new employee personnel file and assure they are maintained according to ARC Command/Review Standards.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties for this position.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive work experience in human resources.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to prioritize tasks and handle deadlines.
  • Must be self-motivated, able to work with minimum supervision, adaptable, and able to handle confidential matters.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn UKG software.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's license.
