Job Overview:

The HR Coordinator plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace environment. This position is dedicated to providing comprehensive HR assistance to the IRC Northern California offices. Responsibilities include acting as a primary contact for staffing inquiries and organizing training sessions and events that enhance the professional development of the IRC Northern California teams. The HR Coordinator will also manage onboarding processes, staff recognition initiatives, employee relations, and the execution of the office's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) action plan. This role reports to the regional HR Manager and collaborates closely with the Site Director.

Key Responsibilities:
  • HR Knowledge and Information: Act as a dependable resource for HR policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to both internal standards and relevant labor laws. Assist in the development and enhancement of essential HR lifecycle processes as required.
  • Employee Relations: Address and resolve employee welfare concerns regarding benefits, payroll, HRIS, and general inquiries.
  • Talent Acquisition: Partner with program managers in crafting job descriptions, posting vacancies, reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and facilitating background checks.
  • Induction: Work closely with teams to ensure effective new hire onboarding and orientation.
  • Talent Management: Collaborate with the HR Manager to create local talent development strategies.
  • Staff Wellbeing: Assist employees in accessing wellness resources and conduct stay and exit interviews.
  • HR Administration: Maintain accurate electronic personnel records and manage documentation for various HR transactions.
  • Regional Support: Coordinate with the regional HR Manager on initiatives related to organizational values and compliance with DEI and gender equality policies.
  • Team Engagement: Actively promote and participate in efforts to enhance team cohesion and inclusion.
  • IRC Values: Uphold and promote the organization's core values as outlined in the IRC Way: Standards for Professional Conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree in business, non-profit management, public administration, or a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant professional experience, ideally within refugee services or a non-profit setting.
  • Experience in supervising staff is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and self-direction.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a multicultural workplace.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Capability to present information professionally to groups.
Working Environment:
  • A blend of standard office settings, remote work, and field activities to fulfill the outlined responsibilities.
  • May require occasional weekend and evening work.
  • Flexibility to travel as necessary within the Northern California region.
Compensation: Pay ranges are applicable to US-based candidates and are determined by various factors, including labor market conditions and individual qualifications.
