Work Schedule:

Standard hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Flexibility in hours may be necessary based on participant needs.

Compensation:

Starting at $15.00 per hour, increasing to $16.00 after 90 days.

Position Summary:

The Activities Coordinator at LIFE-NWPA is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a variety of activities aimed at promoting physical, cognitive, and social well-being among elderly participants. This includes exercises, games, music, crafts, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute a diverse range of activities that cater to the physical, cognitive, and social needs of participants.
  • Assist participants in choosing suitable activities that align with their capabilities.
  • Encourage hobbies and foster social interactions among residents.
  • Organize group activities, recreational programs, and social events.
  • Maintain a monthly schedule of activities.
  • Document participant progress and relevant information in their records.
  • Collaborate with management to prepare the annual budget for activities and supplies.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary team assessments and care planning.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to interact compassionately and patiently with participants, families, and staff.
  • Strong communication skills with medical and nursing personnel.
  • Effective organizational skills and ability to follow through on tasks.
  • Capability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of experience in human services, particularly with the elderly.
  • Experience working with frail or elderly populations is preferred, or willingness to undergo training.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of background checks and health screenings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work in well-lit and ventilated areas.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move throughout the workday.
  • Remain alert to ensure participant safety.
  • Must be able to lift and assist participants as needed.
