Work Schedule:

Standard hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Flexibility in scheduling may be required based on participant needs.

Compensation:

Starting at $15.00 per hour, increasing to $16.00 per hour after a 90-day period.

Position Summary:

The Activities Coordinator at LIFE-NWPA is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a variety of activities aimed at promoting physical, cognitive, and social engagement among elderly participants. Activities may include exercise sessions, games, music, arts and crafts, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Center Manager to develop and execute a comprehensive activities program that supports optimal functioning for participants.
  • Assist participants in selecting suitable activities based on their individual preferences and limitations.
  • Encourage social interaction and the pursuit of hobbies among participants.
  • Organize and facilitate group activities, including recreational, religious, and social events.
  • Maintain a monthly schedule of activities for participants.
  • Document participant progress and relevant information in their records at least quarterly.
  • Work with the Center Manager to prepare the annual budget for activities and supplies.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary team assessments and care planning for participants.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives within the organization.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Center Manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to interact compassionately and effectively with participants, families, and staff.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with medical and nursing personnel.
  • Organizational skills to manage tasks efficiently.
  • Capability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Must possess CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, along with one year of experience in a related field working with the elderly.
  • Experience with the frail or elderly population is preferred, or willingness to undergo training.

Additional Requirements:

  • A valid State driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Successful completion of background checks and health screenings.

Physical Demands:

  • Work is performed in well-lit and ventilated areas.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, and move throughout the workday.
  • Must be alert to participant safety at all times.
  • May require occasional overnight travel for training purposes.
  • Must be able to lift and assist participants as needed.
