Key Responsibilities

The Patient Registration Coordinator serves as the initial point of contact for patients, embodying the values of Oklahoma Heart Hospital through exceptional customer service and empathy.

This role is crucial in managing all aspects of patient entry into OHH facilities, which includes registration, financial clearance, processing payments over the phone, assisting with payment plans, and providing information on financial assistance.

Accuracy in patient data collection and entry into the patient record is a primary responsibility of this position.

Attention to detail is essential, along with a thorough understanding of insurance providers, Medicare regulations, and relevant federal, state, and accreditation standards.


Specific Duties Include:
- Conducting pre-registration and insurance verification within 24 hours of notification for both inpatient and outpatient services.
- Adhering to scripted benefits verification protocols.
- Communicating with physicians to address issues related to prior authorizations or referral documentation.
- Accurately assigning insurance plans.
- Performing electronic eligibility confirmations when applicable and documenting outcomes.
- Researching patient visit histories to ensure compliance with payer-specific payment timelines.
- Completing Medicare secondary payer questionnaires as necessary.
- Calculating patient cost shares and preparing to collect payments via phone or arrange payment plans.

Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience:
One to three years of clerical experience is required, preferably in a healthcare environment. Familiarity with medical terminology and insurance plans is advantageous.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Windows-based operating systems is preferred.

Professional Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Technical/Motor Skills:
Ability to type at least 45 words per minute and proficient in 10-key operations.
