HR Operations Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in managing HR functions at a professional level, collaborating closely with management across various HR activities including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training, record maintenance, performance management, policy enforcement, communication, and compliance with employment laws.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the development and execution of personnel policies applicable to all staff members.
- Oversees recruitment initiatives, which encompass conducting preliminary phone interviews, scheduling interviews with hiring managers, and extending job offers.
- Coordinates necessary pre-employment physical examinations and drug testing, and processes background checks for new hires.
- Facilitates monthly orientation sessions for new employees, covering essential topics such as paperwork completion, safety protocols, harassment training, and benefits enrollment, ensuring timely submission of documents to Payroll.
- Validates I-9 documentation and employs E-verify for electronic data submission.
- Participates in the performance appraisal process, collaborating with supervisors to review evaluations at 30 days, 70 days, and annually.
- Communicates and clarifies company-sponsored benefits (medical, 401k, etc.) to both new and existing employees, ensuring timely submission of enrollment forms.
- Establishes and maintains comprehensive departmental records and reports, organizing documents within employee files.
- Ensures accurate and timely maintenance of personnel records within the HRIS system.
- Provides employee relations support, conducting investigations as necessary.
- Manages termination processes and disciplinary actions when required.
- Handles unemployment claims and represents the company at unemployment hearings when necessary.
- Participates in weekly HR meetings to discuss ongoing initiatives and updates.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related business field.
- 5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role.
- Experience in a dynamic work environment is highly preferred.
- Background in the manufacturing sector is advantageous.
- PHR/SHRM certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems (experience with UKG Pro and Kronos is desirable).
- Strong understanding of human resources principles and practices.
- Knowledge of safety regulations.
- Ability to implement HR programs effectively.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and maintains confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Proficient multitasking abilities and self-motivated.
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent customer service skills, both internally and externally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
