POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in managing HR functions at a professional level, collaborating closely with management across various departments. This position encompasses a range of Human Resources activities including talent acquisition, employee engagement, training initiatives, record management, performance evaluation, policy enforcement, communication, and adherence to employment regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies applicable to all staff members.
- Oversees recruitment processes, which include conducting initial phone interviews, coordinating meetings with hiring managers, and extending job offers.
- Manages post-offer pre-employment requirements such as physical examinations and drug screenings, and initiates background checks for new hires.
- Facilitates monthly orientation sessions for new employees, covering essential topics such as onboarding paperwork, safety protocols, harassment prevention training, and benefits enrollment. Ensures timely submission of these documents to Payroll.
- Verifies I-9 documentation and utilizes E-verify for electronic data submission.
- Participates in the performance appraisal process; collaborates with supervisors to review evaluations for employees across departments (30-day, 70-day, and annual assessments).
- Educates new and existing employees about company-sponsored benefits (medical, 401k, etc.) and ensures timely submission of enrollment forms.
- Establishes and maintains accurate departmental records and reports; organizes and scans documents into employee files.
- Maintains personnel records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness within the HRIS system.
- Provides employee relations support; conducts investigations as necessary.
- Administers all termination processes and disciplinary actions when required.
- Handles unemployment claims and represents the company at unemployment hearings when necessary.
- Participates in weekly HR meetings to discuss ongoing initiatives and updates.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role.
- Experience in a dynamic work environment is highly desirable.
- Background in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
- PHR/SHRM certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems (experience with UKG Pro and Kronos is advantageous).
- Solid understanding of human resources principles and practices.
- Knowledge of safety regulations.
- Ability to implement effective HR programs.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Demonstrates sound judgment and maintains confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Capable of multitasking and self-motivated; possesses a strong sense of urgency.
- Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Excellent customer service skills, both internally and externally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
