Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Accessibility professional who is committed to ensuring that our digital platforms, including websites, forms, and documents, meet accessibility standards. As a member of our Software Web Accessibility Group (SWAG), you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills in a collaborative environment, advocating for accessibility compliance and awareness throughout the agency.
Work Hours
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional non-standard hours as needed.
Telework Options
Teleworking may be considered under specific conditions, requiring permanent residency within Texas and adherence to in-office requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Two (2) years of recent experience in an Accessibility Analyst or Software Developer role.
- Proficiency with internet browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox.
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Familiarity with Accessibility testing tools (e.g., SortSite, JAWS, NVDA, Wave).
- Ability to document and communicate online research findings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or management information systems.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 and Section 508.
- Experience with WAI-ARIA and HTML5 attributes.
- Ability to set up and configure testing tools and assistive devices.
- Understanding of HTML semantics and hyperlink integrity.
- Programming knowledge for code analysis.
- Experience in making PDFs accessible.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in testing systems for accessibility compliance, documenting results, and facilitating remediation efforts.
- Develop test cases and scenarios to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
- Contribute to the creation of training materials focused on accessibility awareness and best practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
