General Description: We are seeking a professional dedicated to ensuring that our agency produces accessibility-compliant websites, forms, and documents. As a member of our Software Web Accessibility Group (SWAG), you will enhance your skills in a collaborative environment while promoting accessibility compliance and awareness throughout the agency. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, eager to learn new technologies, and thrive in a team-oriented atmosphere that values pride in work and work-life balance.

Work Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours. Occasionally, non-standard hours may be required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.

Teleworking: May be considered under specific conditions. Candidates must have permanent residency within Texas and meet in-office requirements, which can vary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two years of recent experience in an Accessibility-related Analyst or Software Developer role.
  • Proficiency with internet browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Accessibility testing tools (e.g., SortSite, JAWS, NVDA, Wave).
  • Ability to document online research findings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or management information systems.
  • Experience with accessibility standards such as Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 and Section 508 Accessibility Standards.
  • Knowledge of WAI-ARIA and HTML5 attributes.
  • Experience in setting up and configuring test tools and assistive devices.
  • Understanding of HTML semantics and hyperlink integrity.
  • Programming knowledge for code comprehension.
  • Experience in making PDFs accessible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in testing systems for accessibility compliance, including scheduling and documenting results.
  • Document accessibility testing outcomes and communicate findings to technical staff for remediation.
  • Develop test cases to ensure systems meet accessibility standards.
  • Contribute to the creation of training materials focused on accessibility awareness and best practices.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
