Crisis Connections is dedicated to providing a range of telephone-based support services that are accessible to individuals in our community facing crises. Our mission is to promote resilience and wellbeing by connecting individuals to compassionate support.

Position Summary

As a Crisis Services Clinician, you will be a qualified Mental Health Professional equipped with extensive training in critical crisis service functions, including Crisis Services Coordination, Hospital Authorization, One-Call Triage, and Mental Health Triage. Your primary role will involve supervising all operations within the phone room, collaborating closely with clinical staff and paraprofessionals during your shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Crisis Service Coordination: Oversee phone workers, providing guidance and support during shifts, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Mental Health Triage: Conduct assessments on crisis calls, evaluate risks, and implement effective clinical interventions.
  • Hospital Diversion and Authorization: Manage the Hospital Authorization Line, ensuring accurate documentation and timely completion of authorizations.
  • One-Call Triage: Respond to calls from first responders, gathering essential information and offering immediate support options.
  • Community Consultation: Provide professional consultation to callers regarding mental health access and crisis intervention.
Training and Development

New hires are expected to complete a series of training shifts and online modules before commencing their scheduled duties. Continuous professional development is encouraged, with a minimum of 12 hours of training annually on relevant topics.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Master's degree in social sciences and have at least two years of supervised experience working with individuals experiencing severe mental health challenges. Candidates with supervisory experience and a collaborative mindset are preferred.

Working Conditions

This role requires the ability to manage multiple IT platforms and maintain focus in a moderately noisy environment. Flexibility and adaptability are essential for success in this position.
