As a prominent provider of services for multiply disabled adults experiencing chronic homelessness, DESC serves nearly 2,000 individuals daily. Our comprehensive service model is tailored to help individuals secure and maintain safe, affordable housing while promoting overall well-being.

Position Summary:

The Mobile Response Team (MRT) offers round-the-clock mental and behavioral health services at various supportive housing facilities throughout King County. The primary objective of this initiative is to deliver immediate crisis intervention and short-term behavioral health case management through mobile response teams. These teams consist of certified peer counselors, behavioral health case managers, substance use disorder professionals, mental health professionals, and medical staff trained in Narcan administration.

The Mental Health Professional (MHP) Case Manager will respond to crisis situations originating from designated housing sites. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, de-escalating crises, formulating safety plans, and collaborating with clients and housing personnel to ensure a secure environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As part of a multidisciplinary team, perform risk assessments, develop safety plans, and coordinate care for adults in crisis.
  • Facilitate referrals to MRT case management for ongoing support and resource engagement.
  • Provide follow-up services to ensure continuity of care and linkage to essential services.
  • Complete all required documentation and data collection for the project and DESC.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with service providers to enhance client support.
  • Adhere to program research and evaluation protocols.
  • Uphold agency policies and relevant regulations.
  • Advocate for clients within their communities to ensure access to necessary resources.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation efforts as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Living Conditions:

  • Coordinate support efforts for clients residing in DESC housing, focusing on maintaining healthy living conditions.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires the ability to sit, drive, walk, stand, and communicate effectively. Employees may need to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds and operate computer systems. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities.

Diversity Commitment:

DESC is dedicated to fostering a diverse workplace and promotes equal employment opportunities for all individuals. We do not discriminate based on race, creed, color, sex, gender, sexual orientation, age, national origin, marital status, or disability.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Eligible for a Licensed AAC credential or equivalent, allowing for independent mental health assessments and diagnoses.
  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related behavioral science field, or a Bachelor of Nursing degree with a mental health specialty.
  • Valid Washington State driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Experience working with clients who may be challenging to engage in traditional mental health services.
  • Ability to pass a Washington State Criminal background check.
  • Familiarity with recovery principles, crisis intervention strategies, and trauma-informed care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed Social Worker (LICSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington State.
