Shelter Support Specialist

Role Overview: This position is dedicated to providing essential support and care to individuals residing in shelters.

Responsibilities:

Manage crisis and inquiry communications, delivering support, information, and appropriate service referrals. Maintain a secure environment for all residents by assisting and enforcing established facility guidelines. Conduct routine inspections to identify potential hazards, inappropriate conduct, or necessary repairs. Act promptly in emergencies, exercising independent judgment within established policy frameworks. Implement crisis intervention strategies and security protocols, including alerting authorities when required. Oversee client intake and exit procedures in accordance with departmental standards. Provide orientation, support, and supervision to clients. Assist in the training of new staff and volunteers. Collaborate with colleagues and represent programs to community organizations with respect and professionalism.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED. At least 6 months of experience in customer service or public interaction. Experience in social service shelters or residential settings is preferred. A valid driver's license is preferred.
