Position Overview

Therapeutic Health Services (THS) has been a leader in providing evidence-based and culturally sensitive behavioral health solutions since 1972. Our mission focuses on delivering compassionate care to children, youth, and families grappling with substance use and mental health challenges. We are dedicated to:

We are currently seeking a Behavioral Health Specialist to join our team. This role will focus on enhancing the lives of individuals residing in designated supportive housing environments. Through collaboration with local housing initiatives, we aim to provide safe and dignified living conditions, coupled with essential on-site behavioral health services. This approach serves as a crucial first step towards overcoming homelessness.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Delivering immediate intervention, crisis management, and recovery support within assigned housing communities.
  • Establishing a consistent and approachable presence for residents.
  • Engaging with residents to identify and address mental health and substance use challenges that may hinder their journey to stable housing.
  • Working alongside housing staff to manage resident incidents and ensure adherence to community standards.
  • Facilitating individual and group counseling sessions during the initial engagement phase.
  • Conducting mental health assessments and gathering psycho-social information to define treatment objectives and preliminary diagnoses.
  • Coordinating referrals to THS for residents seeking formal mental health or substance use treatment.
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation, including treatment plans and progress notes.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in a relevant social service field is required.
  • Possession of a current Washington State Counselor credential or professional licensure is essential. MHP credential is preferred.
  • SUDP/T certification is advantageous.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in counseling, case management, and group services is necessary.
  • Experience working with homeless or unstably housed individuals is a plus.
  • Proficiency in outreach, de-escalation, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution with diverse populations is required.
