Job Description

Intuit Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Principal Research Scientist to join its AI/Tech Futures team.

The AI Futures team is responsible for developing and incubating emerging technologies, user experiences, capabilities, and products that have the potential to be transformative to businesses and consumers.

The mission of the AI Research team is to conduct cutting-edge research in AI topics that directly influence Intuit's portfolio of fintech offerings and position Intuit as a global leader in AI with the goal of powering prosperity around the world.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership in areas of Neuro Symbolic AI, Multimodal and Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, and Machine Learning.
  • AI Innovation: Push the boundaries of AI native fintech applications through innovation and partnership.
  • Research Community Engagement: Engage with the academic and broader research community through publications, presentations, and collaborations.
  • Long-term Research Goals: Work towards long-term ambitious research goals that are in alignment with Intuit products, while identifying intermediate milestones.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with a cross-functional team of designers, program managers, researchers, legal experts, and more, to create new capabilities for current and future products.
  • Mentorship: Mentor junior researchers and interns through goal setting and technical directions that lead to positive outcomes.
Requirements:
  • PhD in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Statistics/Applied Mathematics or a related field: With a focus on AI/ML/Data Science or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience post PhD: With a proven track record of leading a research or applied research team.
  • Established track record of publication: Ideally demonstrated through first author publications in top-tier AI conferences (e.g. NeurIPS, ICML, KDD, ACL, AAAI).
  • 10+ years experience in conducting theoretical or applied research: With demonstrated capability of defining and driving research projects.
  • Past experience in disseminating new technical ideas: Through open sourcing, publications, and presentations.
  • Experience with developing and debugging in Python: With Tensorflow, Pytorch, or similar frameworks.
  • Deep technical expertise in machine learning: Along with hands-on experience in either deep NLP architectures, neuro-symbolic AI, or robust and/or explainable AI.
  • Excited about the future of Money, Payments, FinTech: And the transformation these technologies will drive.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills: To effectively communicate and/or collaborate with other team members, as well as product technologists and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills: To influence teams and to evangelize research solutions across the company.
