Role Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Research Scientist to join our dynamic team at Samsung Research America. This role involves contributing to the advancement of our large language models (LLMs) and enhancing the capabilities of our AI agents to comprehend, strategize, and perform intricate tasks. You will collaborate with talented professionals in a stimulating and creative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in pioneering research and development of foundational models, focusing on aspects such as model architecture, efficient training methodologies, instruction tuning, and prompt engineering.
- Work alongside a diverse team of researchers, engineers, and domain specialists to gather requirements, create prototypes, and deliver effective solutions.
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of model performance, identify improvement areas, and propose innovative strategies to enhance the functionality of large language models.
- Generate inventive solutions and contribute to patent filings, while also publishing research findings in leading conferences.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in AI-related research.
- Deep understanding of Transformer architectures, attention mechanisms, and decoder-only LLMs.
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) models and action planning techniques.
- Familiarity with neuro-symbolic models that integrate symbolic reasoning with neural networks.
- Knowledge of operating system internals and kernel architecture is advantageous.
- Proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, with hands-on experience in large language models.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a passion for advancing AI technologies.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex concepts clearly.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.
- Demonstrated history of research publications in machine learning and artificial intelligence.
