Position Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable leader to join our team of experts, technical project managers, and scientists in support of the Defense Innovation Unit's Emerging Technology Portfolio. The selected candidate will bring extensive technical knowledge in the development of cutting-edge position, navigation, and timing (PNT) technologies and solutions. Experience in business, program management, or technical leadership within the commercial technology sector is highly valued. This role involves collaboration with diverse teams of military and commercial programmers, scientists, and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical project management for multiple prototype initiatives, guiding them from initial research and technology assessment through the acquisition process and into post-award delivery.
  • Lead and collaborate with government partners and commercial teams throughout the prototype development lifecycle.
  • Establish program objectives, milestones, and implementation plans in partnership with Department of Defense entities and program offices.
  • Conduct thorough reviews and technical assessments of commercial solutions and their applications during market research and proposal evaluations.
  • Oversee the review of prototype proposals, technical reports, and related documentation, ensuring all project databases are current.
  • Engage in milestone reviews, testing phases, and simulations, as well as analyze post-test reports and performance metrics.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key segments of the commercial sector, including tech entrepreneurs and academic institutions.
  • Prepare comprehensive white papers, technical documentation, and materials for briefings and meetings.
  • Respond to inquiries from government partners and stakeholders as needed.
  • Participate in essential inter-agency meetings and collaborations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of 12 years of experience with a Master's Degree in a technical or engineering discipline (e.g., aerospace engineering, mathematics, computer science) or business (e.g., MBA). Alternatively, 15 years of experience in project or program management related to research and development in national security with a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Extensive knowledge of next-generation and alternative PNT technologies and solutions.
  • Experience in developing autonomous navigation systems for GPS-denied environments and innovative space-based sensing platforms.
  • Familiarity with the latest advancements in emerging PNT technologies utilizing magnetic, inertial, and other non-traditional sensing methods.
  • Proven track record of leading collaborative teams in both government and commercial sectors to achieve project objectives efficiently.
  • Possession of a TS clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Prior military experience that enables effective problem curation and requirement definition with military end users.
