In this position, you will enhance the state of the art in the core principles of artificial intelligence. We are looking for candidates who possess expertise in generative AI, deep learning fundamentals, and optimization techniques, and who are enthusiastic about areas such as neuro-symbolic AI, personalization and recommendation systems, the theory and application of large language models, as well as robustness and uncertainty quantification. You will collaborate with a team of distinguished domain experts, data scientists, and machine learning engineers to shape our strategic direction in this field and develop advanced capabilities that address the evolving needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership in Neuro Symbolic AI, Multimodal and Large Language Models, Natural Language Processing, Deep Learning, and Machine Learning.
  • Drive innovation in AI-native fintech applications through strategic partnerships and creative solutions.
  • Engage with the academic and broader research community via publications, presentations, and collaborative efforts.
  • Work towards ambitious long-term research objectives aligned with Intuit's product offerings while identifying intermediate milestones.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team, including designers, program managers, researchers, and legal experts, to develop new capabilities for both current and future products.
  • Mentor junior researchers and interns by setting goals and providing technical guidance that leads to successful outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field with a focus on AI, ML, or Data Science, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant post-PhD work experience.
  • Proven experience leading a research or applied research team.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications, ideally with first-author contributions in top-tier AI conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, KDD, ACL, AAAI).
  • 10+ years of experience in conducting theoretical or applied research with a strong ability to define and drive research projects.
  • Experience in disseminating innovative technical ideas to the scientific community through open sourcing, publications, and presentations.
  • Proficiency in developing and debugging using Python with frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Deep technical expertise in machine learning, with hands-on experience in deep NLP architectures, neuro-symbolic AI, or robust and explainable AI.
  • Passionate about the future of Money, Payments, FinTech, and the transformative potential of these technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, product technologists, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills to influence teams and advocate for research solutions across the organization.
