Position Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable leader to join our team of experts, technical project managers, and scientists, focusing on the Defense Innovation Unit's AI Portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in technical, programmatic, and operational roles, particularly in the design and deployment of AI-driven capabilities for national security applications. Experience in the commercial technology sector is highly desirable. This position involves collaboration with a diverse team of programmers, scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical project management support for various prototype initiatives, guiding them from initial research and technology assessment through the acquisition process and into customer delivery.
- Lead collaboration efforts with government partners and commercial teams throughout the prototype development lifecycle.
- Establish program objectives, milestones, and implementation plans in partnership with Department of Defense entities and program offices.
- Offer expertise in architecture and engineering disciplines related to AI software and machine learning systems, assessing the feasibility of commercial solutions against defense requirements.
- Conduct independent evaluations and technical assessments of commercial solutions as part of market research and proposal evaluations.
- Review project documentation, including prototype proposals and technical reports, ensuring project databases are current.
- Engage in milestone reviews, testing phases, and simulations, analyzing post-test reports and performance data.
- Build and maintain relationships with key players in the commercial sector, including tech entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.
- Prepare technical documents, briefing materials, and respond to inquiries from government partners.
- Participate in critical inter-agency meetings and other assigned duties.
Qualifications
Required:
- A minimum of 8 years of experience with a Master's Degree in a technical or engineering discipline (e.g., mathematics, physics, or computer science) or business (e.g., MBA), or 12 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience in supporting the development of commercial AI technologies as a hardware/software engineer or product manager.
- Military experience that enables the candidate to identify problems and define requirements in collaboration with military end users.
- Experience leading collaborative teams in both government and commercial sectors to efficiently deliver project objectives.
- Possession of a Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Compensation
The typical compensation range for this position is $150,000, which is based on experience, location, and other relevant factors.
