About Our Community Integration Program:

  • This is a fully community-based day program designed for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The program emphasizes pre-vocational skills, safe public transportation usage, social skills development, and exploration of personal interests.

As a Community Support Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

  • Meeting participants at a designated community hub each morning and facilitating the day's scheduled activities, including public transportation use.
  • Creating opportunities for participants to enhance their socialization and interpersonal communication skills while practicing self-regulation and coping strategies.
  • Providing hands-on training, monitoring, and assessment of participants' pre-vocational skills, and identifying educational opportunities or classes for further development.
  • Advocating for participants' inclusion in the community and empowering them to assert their rights.
  • Utilizing BuildAbility's digital platform to document individual progress and performance.

Work Schedule:

  • Part-time (approximately 27 hours per week)
  • Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Compensation Details:

  • Starting at $22.00/hour (based on prior experience and qualifications)

Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage positively with individuals with disabilities, their families, employers, and others.
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Successful completion of a DOJ Live Scan fingerprinting background check.
    • Valid California Driver's License, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.
    • Proof of full vaccination or a request for accommodation based on a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief.
  • Preferred:
    • Fluency in Spanish.
    • Cultural awareness and adaptability.
    • Familiarity with the Los Angeles Metro system (MetroGo app, route planning, etc.).
    • Knowledge of HCBS Final rule guidelines.
    • Crisis management skills.
    • Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities; however, we provide on-the-job training for those without prior experience.
