Key Responsibilities

The Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer will:

  • Design, develop, manufacture, and evaluate new or modified mechanical dies and equipment with exceptional expertise.
  • Oversee projects from inception to completion.
  • Lead engineering efforts for large-scale product development initiatives by assessing feasibility, utilizing CAD software for design, and conducting layout reviews and 2D drawing creation.
  • Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to enhance product quality while reducing costs.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues with moderate guidance.
  • Create part specifications and Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Engage in negotiations with component business units and suppliers.
  • Explore innovative methods to boost efficiency, leverage modern technology, and minimize design and parts costs.
  • Collaborate closely with product stakeholders to address challenges and develop solutions, including hands-on work on the plant floor.
  • Interpret client specifications accurately and generate compliant technical proposals, suggesting suitable alternatives when necessary.
  • Coordinate with Sales Engineers to ensure alignment of proposals with customer expectations and company objectives.
  • Lead proposal reviews and project kick-off meetings.
  • Provide support for manufacturing-related drawings and solid models.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work instructions as required.
  • Manage projects as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and EHS documentation.
  • Offer technical support related to manufacturing processes.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Engineering with at least two years of relevant industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is essential.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Core People Skills: Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Communication Skills: Proficient in clear and persuasive communication, both verbally and in writing.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in various software applications, including Microsoft Office and 3-D CAD systems (preferably Solidworks).
  • Business Acumen: Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Mechanical Engineering Knowledge: Understanding of engineering principles, production processes, and design techniques.
Travel Requirements

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 5%, with a valid passport or the ability to obtain one.

Working Environment

This position typically operates in an office setting, with occasional visits to the plant floor where Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary.
