Mechanical Technician

Overview:
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the repair and maintenance of machinery and mechanical systems, including engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and various production equipment. This role encompasses a range of essential duties and responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor mechanical devices during operation, listening and observing to identify issues.
- Dismantle machinery to access and replace faulty components.
- Inspect parts for defects by examining their form and texture.
- Assess used components to determine necessary dimensional adjustments.
- Adjust functional elements of devices and control instruments as needed.
- Repair or substitute defective parts to ensure optimal performance.
- Install specialized functional and structural components in machinery.
- Perform lubrication and cleaning of mechanical parts.
- Conduct performance tests by starting devices.
- Set up and operate metalworking tools such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders for part fabrication and repair.
- Repair electrical systems as required.
- Adhere to job instructions and training protocols.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following competencies: attention to detail, accuracy, punctuality, decision-making ability, sound judgment, efficiency in time management, and adherence to safety protocols.
Qualifications:Candidates must meet the following requirements to perform the essential duties satisfactorily: a high school diploma or GED; one to three months of related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:Ability to read and understand simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, as well as the ability to write basic correspondence.
Mathematical Skills:Proficiency in basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Skills:Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and to solve problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:No computer skills are required for this position.
Certificates and Licenses:A fork truck license is required on-site.
Supervisory Responsibilities:This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:The work environment is characterized by exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes, extreme temperatures, and loud noise levels. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Physical Demands:Employees must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and possess specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Regular activities include standing, walking, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and climbing.
