Position Objective:

The LPN Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing the daily nursing operations within the facility, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires effective leadership to maintain the highest standards of patient care, as directed by the Nurse Manager and other nursing leadership.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program and current LPN licensure in Georgia.
  • A minimum of three to five years of recent LPN experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Ability to mentor and guide CNAs and other staff, exercising independent judgment as necessary.
  • Preferred skills in leadership, training, goal setting, and motivation.
  • Capability to respond to emergencies and seek guidance when needed.
  • Proficient in English, with the ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with residents and staff.
  • Must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid Class C Georgia Driver's License, and meet company vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Compliance with state regulations regarding background checks and drug screenings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily nursing activities and ensure that resident needs are met by managing CNA duties and documentation.
  • Conduct training for new staff and implement new procedures, including orientation.
  • Communicate with management regarding staff performance and changes in treatment protocols.
  • Collaborate with scheduling to ensure adequate coverage, particularly during overnight and weekend shifts.
  • Assess resident complaints and coordinate with healthcare providers for timely resolutions.
  • Implement physician's orders related to diet, medication, and treatment.
  • Perform assessments, change dressings, and monitor the quality of care.
  • Document nursing interventions accurately in medical records.
  • Ensure the security and proper distribution of controlled substances.
  • Provide guidance to residents and families regarding treatment plans and care issues.
  • Maintain the availability of medications and supplies.
  • Work with residents with developmental or intellectual disabilities.
  • Uphold resident privacy and dignity, ensuring compliance with Resident's Rights regulations.
  • Facilitate communication of medical information to residents' families or guardians.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, especially during staffing shortages.
  • Monitor and document vital signs and other health indicators, alerting physicians to any abnormalities.
  • Collaborate with dietary and therapy staff to develop care plans.
  • Complete nursing documentation with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through training and education.
  • Participate in committees and provide input on care improvement initiatives.

Physical and Personal Skills Required:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Capability to follow detailed instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, standing, and walking.
  • Must be able to transport residents and perform CPR/First Aid as needed.
