Reports to: Senior Director of Nursing/Assistant Director of Nursing

Position Objective:

The Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing the daily nursing operations within the facility, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves exercising supervisory authority and making independent judgments to maintain the highest standards of care.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program and current LPN licensure in Georgia.
  • A minimum of three to five years of recent experience as an LPN, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to lead and instruct Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and other staff members.
  • Strong leadership, training, and motivational skills are preferred.
  • Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and seek supervision when necessary.
  • Proficient in English, capable of understanding and following both written and verbal instructions, and able to communicate effectively with residents and staff.
  • Must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid Class C Georgia Driver's License, and meet company policy regarding driving record requirements.
  • Compliance with state regulations regarding background checks and drug screening is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily nursing functions, ensuring that resident needs are met through effective management of CNAs.
  • Oversee documentation and facilitate daily shift meetings to ensure clear communication among staff.
  • Provide training and orientation for new employees, introducing them to procedures and protocols.
  • Communicate with management regarding staff performance and changes in treatment protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with scheduling to ensure adequate staffing coverage during all shifts.
  • Assess resident complaints and coordinate with healthcare providers to develop appropriate care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as per physician's orders, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct assessments, monitor vital signs, and document nursing interventions accurately.
  • Maintain the security of controlled substances and ensure proper documentation of their use.
  • Facilitate resident care planning and ensure compliance with resident rights and confidentiality.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain professional competencies.

Personal Attributes and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
  • Capacity to follow detailed instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.
  • Physical demands include frequent use of hands, standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds independently.
  • Must be able to perform CPR and First Aid as required.
