GENERAL OVERVIEW:

The Senior Vice President of Safety and Training Management is responsible for overseeing the comprehensive functions of Safety, Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Operational Training within the organization. This role serves as the primary authority on all matters pertaining to these critical areas, ensuring the effective management of safety initiatives, emergency response strategies, counterterrorism efforts, and the training needs of personnel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and implement integrated safety, security, emergency management, and training programs and policies that align with organizational goals.

2. Oversee the formulation and execution of departmental operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and best practices.

3. Collaborate with executive leadership and staff at all levels to design training programs that address the specific needs of the organization and its employees.

4. Plan and coordinate departmental activities, fostering collaboration with internal stakeholders.

5. Establish and maintain policies and procedures that promote consistency with applicable regulations and organizational objectives.

6. Cultivate leadership skills and professional development in team members through mentorship and structured training.

7. Enhance interdepartmental communication and efficiency by implementing integrated training programs focused on customer service.

8. Manage departmental personnel, including staffing, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.

9. Ensure compliance with departmental and organizational goals, budgets, quality standards, and legal requirements.

10. Engage in strategic planning for the division, maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

11. Provide timely reports to senior leadership regarding departmental progress and achievement of objectives.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Security, Emergency Management, Business Administration, or a related field is required.

A minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible experience in Safety, Security, and Emergency Management, including management of training programs, is essential. Experience in a multi-modal mass transit environment is preferred. Educational qualifications may be substituted with relevant experience.

At least 3 years of experience in a senior management role is necessary.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must possess a comprehensive understanding of departmental functions and applicable regulations related to safety and environmental standards in the transit industry.

Proven ability to develop and deliver operational training programs for diverse employee levels is required.

Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects effectively.

Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance with organizational policies is expected.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be capable of performing physical tasks such as lifting and moving objects weighing between 5-25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates within a standard office environment, with the expectation of managing deadlines and multiple priorities.
