Job Overview

Position Summary

This role involves comprehensive management of Relief Casework, which encompasses various forms of assistance such as housing support, emergency accommodation, and financial management services. The individual will report directly to the Director of Relief Services at Catholic Social Services.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Assessment
Assist clients in identifying their immediate needs by providing relevant resources or referrals to community services.

2. Housing Support
A. Facilitate assistance for clients seeking housing support by conducting intake interviews, gathering necessary documentation, and completing budget assessments. Eligible applications will be reviewed with the Director before processing for payment. Follow-up sessions will be scheduled at regular intervals to ensure ongoing support.

B. Maintain accurate documentation of all client interactions using the HMIS system, ensuring timely and organized case files.

3. Emergency Accommodation
A. Provide support to clients requiring temporary lodging due to emergencies, assessing their needs and coordinating arrangements in consultation with the Director.

4. Financial Management Services
A. Meet with clients to explain the role of Catholic Social Services as a representative payee, assisting those unable to manage their finances due to various challenges.

B. Establish and maintain bank accounts and individual client files.

C. Collaborate with clients to develop budgets that align with their financial needs, ensuring proper distribution of funds and applying for any applicable state rebates.

D. Complete all necessary reports and documentation as required by both Catholic Social Services and the Social Security Administration.

5. Community Engagement
Participate in holiday and community events, including the Thanksgiving Distribution and Gifts For Kids Christmas Toy Program, as well as other social activities throughout the year.

6. Committee Participation
Serve on various committees and represent Catholic Social Services at meetings.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in a human services-related field is required, along with relevant experience in case management. A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle are essential.

Clearances including Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History, and FBI Fingerprinting are mandatory. The individual must uphold the mission of Catholic Social Services, reflecting the broader mission of the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Scranton.
