About the Role:

This position involves working under the guidance of the Children and Youth Supervisor to deliver case management services within the Children and Youth service framework. The role focuses on evaluating the safety and welfare of children referred for assistance. Using a strengths-based methodology, case managers support children and families in skill development, resource identification, and overall well-being enhancement. Services may be delivered in various settings, including family homes, educational institutions, and community locations. Collaboration with legal and law enforcement entities may be necessary to ensure child safety, which can involve providing court testimony on behalf of the agency.

Case managers are tasked with overseeing their assigned caseloads. As objectives are met and safety concerns are alleviated, services may be concluded. Given the dynamic nature of this role, adaptability, flexibility, and resourcefulness are essential qualities.

Extensive training is provided to equip staff with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective performance. On-call duties and work outside standard hours are part of the role, with flexible scheduling options available to accommodate these requirements.

This position is designated as part of the County's CYS workforce, ensuring proper handling of consumer information in accordance with SAM privacy policies.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; OR two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 combined with two years of college coursework including 12 credits in the aforementioned fields; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 college credits in the relevant social sciences and one year of experience in a similar case management role.

Work Environment:

Prolonged periods of computer work in an open office setting, comfortable use of virtual communication tools, and travel within the assigned region may be required, including in adverse weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds is necessary.
