Position Title: Youth Rehabilitation Coordinator

Employment Type: Full-Time

Minimum Experience: Entry-level

Compensation Rate: $20.00 / hour

Description:

As a Youth Rehabilitation Coordinator, you will be instrumental in assisting and guiding young individuals with criminal backgrounds through the intricacies of the justice system and their reintegration into society.

Hours: Full-time - 37.5 hours/week

FLSA Status: Hourly, non-exempt

Reports To: Program Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of youths' backgrounds, needs, and risks to create tailored case management strategies. Collaborate with other professionals to ensure holistic planning.
  • Supportive Case Management: Provide mentoring and assistance to youths to address emotional, behavioral, and psychological challenges. Help in developing coping mechanisms and promoting positive decision-making.
  • Advocacy and Liaison: Champion the rights and needs of youths within the justice system and community resources. Act as a bridge between the youth, their families, legal representatives, and community organizations to ensure coordinated support.
  • Skill Development: Organize workshops and programs focusing on life skills, vocational training, education, and employment readiness to improve youths' chances for successful reintegration.
  • Monitoring and Compliance: Track youths' progress and adherence to court-ordered requirements, treatment plans, and probation conditions. Provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Crisis Intervention: Address crises and emergencies swiftly, utilizing de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention strategies to ensure the safety and well-being of youths.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain precise and detailed case records, progress notes, and documentation in accordance with organizational standards and legal requirements.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, an individual must effectively perform each essential duty. The qualifications listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or a related field, or relevant life experience with two years of work in the field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with youths in the criminal justice system or related social services.
  • Familiarity with juvenile justice laws, probation procedures, and community resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust with youths, families, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to principles of cultural competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Attendance is mandatory.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of Outreach/Apricot, Penelope, and other required databases is preferred.

Work Environment:
Typically, a moderate level of noise.

Physical Demands:
Frequent sitting, standing, and walking are required. Occasional lifting and/or moving materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
