About the Role:
The Children & Youth Services division aims to foster improved futures for children, families, and communities by integrating our core values into our work. Key Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Children and Youth Supervisor, this position involves delivering case management services within the Children and Youth service framework. Responsibilities include:
- Evaluating the safety and welfare of children referred for assistance.
- Employing a strengths-based methodology to support children and families in skill development, resource identification, and overall well-being.
- Providing services in various settings, including homes, schools, and community locations.
- Collaborating with legal and law enforcement entities as necessary for child safety.
- Testifying in court when required on behalf of the agency.
Caseworkers manage their caseloads, closing cases as goals are met and risks are mitigated. The dynamic nature of this role demands adaptability, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
Comprehensive training is provided to equip staff with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective performance. On-call duties and after-hours work may be required, but flexible scheduling is available to accommodate these needs.
This role is part of the County's CYS workforce, ensuring the proper management of consumer information in compliance with privacy policies.
Essential Duties:
- Fostering positive relationships with children and families.
- Assessing safety and risk factors for assigned cases.
- Collaborating with families to create tailored Family Service Plans that highlight strengths and areas for growth.
- Identifying community resources to support families.
- Documenting services rendered accurately and comprehensively.
- Engaging with various systems, including legal, educational, and healthcare.
- Participating in ongoing professional development and training.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree with at least 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related fields; OR two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 along with two years of college coursework including 12 credits in the aforementioned fields; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education that includes 12 college credits in relevant fields and one year of experience in a similar role.
Work Environment:
This position involves extended periods of computer work in an open office setting, effective communication through virtual platforms, and travel within the assigned region, which may include adverse weather conditions. The ability to lift up to 15 pounds is required.
